Why Concrete Basins are the Perfect Choice for Your Bathroom

Concrete. The basic element of construction across the world is now a widely loved material in bathrooms and we want to share with you why our concrete basins and sinks are a perfect choice for your next project.

Here at Kast, we create real concrete; expertly produced, tested and refined by specialists in our factory. From the designers and makers producing our moulds to the material experts mixing the concrete, over 20 years of knowledge and experience from each of our disciplines make our concrete basins the best in the industry. As well as being extremely practical and functional, our innovative designs make for a stylish focal point to inject personality into any bathroom space.

Our authentic concrete basins are made to last, while the mix of timeless and contemporary styles is sure to overtake any interior fads. So, if you are still wondering if concrete basins are the right choice for your bathroom design, we have put together a few reasons & visuals as to why Kast concrete basins are so suitable for bathrooms and how they can perfectly incorporate into your home.

Strength & Durability

Concrete is an extremely hardwearing material which is why it is used so widely throughout infrastructure across the world. All Kast basins are made from real, solid concrete with steel reinforcement. Our unique combination of aggregates naturally enhances the strength of our concrete and provides volume stability and durability. All of our basins are fully sealed prior to leaving the factory too which makes them easy to maintain. Our unique sealing system provides the most effective protection whilst still preserving the natural look and feel of concrete. For even more protection, our basins can be waxed regularly with a soft cloth as and when required.

Unique Character & Texture

All Kast concrete basins are made from traditional, aggregate-based concrete. We choose not to use glass fibre-reinforced concrete as we prefer the aesthetic integrity of traditional, aggregate-based concrete. The depth of texture that occurs visually as a result of our carefully blended aggregates and cement creates a solid, tactile aesthetic with organic, stone-like characteristics. The organic variations in colour and surface texture create a distinctive aesthetic that is integral to the identity of the material and is what makes each basin unique. Rich in character, our concrete creates an inimitable quality that brings vibrancy and life to every product.

Versatility

Starting out as a liquid, concrete is a versatile material that combines the characteristics of natural stone with the ability to be cast into any shape. It is this versatility that enables us to push the boundaries of design. From the patterned basins seen in our Kast Canvas collection to the refined contours seen in the likes of our Sono basin, we have designed a unique and diverse range of wash basins and sinks to suit all bathrooms. There is also the option to design a custom concrete sink and the Kast design team can work with you to realise your bespoke basin concepts, through detailed drawings and sampling.

Colour Choice

As well as offering a diverse range of concrete basins and sinks, our unique palette of 28 colours is able to accommodate all interior design concepts; from minimal neutrals or vibrant maximalism to industrial or Scandinavian styles, the option of having a mix of different colours to play with allows for a much more inspiring process when designing your bathroom space. The design process and experimenting with colour would be more difficult with ordinary white ceramic basins.
